What to pack in your pickleball bag: a court-day checklist
Pack the equipment you use every session first: paddle, suitable balls, water and personal essentials. Add a cover, fresh grip and a change of kit around your routine.

The everyday court checklist
- Your paddle, with a cover if it shares the bag with loose items.
- Balls suited to the surface and your group’s session.
- Water, keys and your phone.
- A small towel and a spare grip when useful.
- Court shoes and spare clothing if you change at the venue.
The aim is a kit that is easy to unpack and put away again. Start with the regular load; leave rarely used extras out until a particular session needs them.
Give the paddle its own space
Put your paddle where the handle and face are easy to reach. A paddle cover separates the face from keys and other loose items. A paddle case offers a different storage format, including shoulder-strap options.
Keep small items together
Use the pockets you have for keys, phone and grip tape rather than letting them settle at the bottom. Keep a cleaning block dry and separate from damp towels. If you use a paddle-face cleaner, follow the instructions for that paddle’s surface.
Pack for the length of the session
A quick local game
A paddle-focused kit is a good reason to choose a compact bag or sling. Take the essentials without making a short trip feel like tournament travel.
A day away from home
When shoes and spare clothing come too, use a bag that gives them room. The backpack with a shoe compartment is built around that more separated layout.
A gift for a regular player
A cover, fresh grip or new court bag can be useful without replacing a favourite paddle. Explore our pickleball gifts and gift guide.
The after-game reset
Take damp kit out of the bag, remove loose rubbish and let the bag air before storing it. Replace a used grip when its feel or condition calls for it. A quick reset makes the next session easier to organise.
